‘Fraxinus Ornus’ is the Latin name for Orniello. Ornellaia is named after this ancient Mediterranean plant and has also bestowed the epithet on this dessert wine. Ornus dell’Ornellaia is made from late-harvested grapes grown in a tiny vineyard. Time, experience and meditation.
Winemaker's notes
“Ornus 2014 presents a deep golden hue with the occasional amber glint. The wine displays crystallised orange peel, dried apricot and caramel aromas. The balance between the sugar content and the lively, juicy acidity stands out on the palate, with flavours of apricot, sweet tobacco and lightly bitter caramel. A rich wine that shows no heaviness.”
