The 1998 Vintage: Othmar Kiem Tastes Them in Tuscany
18/02/2009
"Tasting past vintages is always interesting," says Othmar Kiem, who writes for Falstaff: "On the one hand it helps tasters understand the potential of a wine, and on the other it allows tasters to assess their judgments."
"I recently had the opportunity to taste, in the course of an event organized at Bolghery by the I Grandi Cru della Costa Toscana Association, wines of the 1988 vintage, which experts consider to be one of the finest of the decade. I must say that I was struck quite positively by the behavior of Tuscan wines like Ornellaia, which are blends containing Cabernet and Merlot, after 10 years of bottle age."
